Monosodium Iodoacetate (MIA) induced Osteoarthritis

The MIA-induced OA model is induced with a monosodium iodoacetate injection in the space between the tibia and femur in the flexed right knee joint. This chemical insult initiates an inflammatory reaction, and the cartilage damage and degradation lead to chronic neuronal damage. The MIA model is offered in rodents and the joint inflammation model is offered in pigs.
