EWMA 2025: Groundbreaking AI-Driven Advancements in Wound Healing Models

Written by MD Biosciences | Jul 11, 2025 7:02:21 PM

MD Biosciences presented at the European Wound Management Association 2025 in Barcelona. Dr. Avital Schauder showcased groundbreaking research on accelerating chronic burn wound healing. Our work highlights how AI-driven advancements are transforming preclinical research, paving the way for more effective treatments.

The study is a burn wound healing model that was conducting in Göttingen minipigs. This strain of pigs is good for longterm studies as they have limited growth rates. Additionally, their calm nature enables us to conduct behavioral steps in order to test the pain sensation around the wounds.

The innovative aspect of this study was the quantitative analysis using an algorithm based artificial inteligence software. The software, developed by DeePathology, enables flexible histopathological analysis of high resolution digital scans. We characterized the histology of burn wounds in GMP and established methods to detect and quantify specific healing markers using an AI tool
